About We Have Friends Everywhere
We Have Friends Everywhere began with a simple belief: we are not as alone as the noise wants us to believe.
This is a space for clarity, compassion, perspective, and resistance — a place to step back from the chaos, look honestly at the world around us, and remember the connections that hold us together.
Here, I write about democracy, nature, science, community, and the patterns shaping the world we’re living through.
I explore those ideas through three guiding perspectives:
Reflection & Resistance
Grounded writing about democracy, culture, disinformation, power, morality, and the choices that shape public life.
Nature & Science
Sedona’s red rocks, deep time, astronomy, geology, weather, ecology — and the perspectives that remind us we are part of something much larger than ourselves.
Community & Action
Art, civic life, creativity, everyday resilience, and the ways people show up for each other in uncertain times.
Who I Am
I’m Kelli Klymenko — an artist, photographer, and writer based in Sedona, Arizona.
Since 2010, I’ve served as Marketing Director at Sedona Arts Center, helping share the stories of artists, creativity, and community throughout Northern Arizona.
My photography has appeared in national publications and tourism campaigns, but my work has always been about the same thing: paying attention.
To landscapes.
To people.
To systems.
To the stories we tell about who we are.
We Have Friends Everywhere is where those threads come together.
Why Readers Are Here
What began as a place for me to write has become a community of readers who value clarity without outrage, honesty without hopelessness, and writing that connects the political world to the larger human one.
Some of the people supporting this work have described it better than I could:
“Clarity, compassion and truth.”
“Brief but potent statements of principle.”
“Written without the tension-building, urgent, rage-bait feeling so many digital writers inflict on readers.”
“Commentary on both politics and nature.”
Those words mean a great deal to me because they describe exactly what I hope this space can be: somewhere we can confront difficult things honestly without surrendering our humanity in the process.
Supporting the Work
Most of my writing here remains free because I believe the ideas themselves should be accessible.
Paid subscriptions help support the time, research, reading, and writing behind We Have Friends Everywhere while allowing the essays that matter most to remain available to everyone.
Paid subscribers also receive my Friday Weekly Reflection — a quieter, more personal space where I share some of what happens behind the writing and acknowledge the people helping make it possible.
There is no expectation that anyone pay to belong here. Reading, sharing, commenting, and participating in this community all matter.
If you choose to support the work financially, I’m deeply grateful. It helps keep this publication independent and ongoing.
What This Space Stands For
I believe:
clarity is more powerful than chaos
compassion is stronger than cruelty
truth still matters
community holds the world together
perspective keeps us grounded
connection is the antidote to isolation
If that resonates with you, you’re in the right place.
We really do have friends everywhere.
